ABOUT Fruit Salad
Fruit Salad is a community organization committed to addressing the lack of spaces for queer and questioning women, trans masc, trans femme, and gender non-conforming individuals. Too often, queer women, trans, and non-binary folks are overlooked within broader LGBTQ+ spaces and left without dedicated places to gather, connect, and feel seen.
Fruit Salad’s mission is to host events that foster connection, belonging, and joy, while building a thriving, safer-space community. With a focus on inclusivity and intention, Fruit Salad aims to create spaces where community members can gather, celebrate, and support one another in meaningful ways.
About The Founder
Sarah Barnhart
Sarah Barnhart is a Black biracial, queer parent, creator, connector, and advocate who is deeply committed to building inclusive spaces that reflect the diversity of lived experience. She brings a thoughtful, intersectional lens to all of her work—centering those often left out of traditional community-building efforts.
In addition to founding Fruit Salad, Sarah is also the maker behind My Dad and Me Everyday Ornaments, a mindful movement teacher, and the founder of Mixed in Hamilton, a space for mixed-race individuals to share their stories and perspectives. Her work is rooted in a passion for advocacy, creative expression, and creating expansive queer spaces that center joy, visibility, and understanding.
